What Type of Salt Does Applegate Use?
At Applegate, we use only natural salt and sea salt.
The sea salt we use is a finely ground variety that is produced and harvested in France using traditional methods. Sea water is collected in clay lined ponds and allowed to evaporate until salt crystals form. The crystals are then ground to the proper consistency. But sometimes we’ve been known to source organic sea salt from the Pacific Ocean too!
At no time during this process are any flow enhancers, whiteners, bleaches, or anti-caking substances added to the product or used in the process of drying or grinding.
Furthermore, no iodine, iodate, or iodide are added to the salt.
The other type of salt used in our products is a natural food grade quality salt. This salt is also untreated and does not contain additives.
